Your role
The Officer Aviation career specialisation in the Air Force refers to a group of air and ground-based aviation roles that sit within two pathways of Mission and Pilot. In these exciting Officer roles, you’re trained to become a world-class leader, manager and decision maker, operating some of the most advanced aircraft and aviation systems in the world.
In a Mission pathway role, you’ll work as a team to make key decisions in challenging environments:
In a Pilot pathway role, you’ll be responsible for operating Air Force aircraft, either flying fast jets or fixed-wing aircraft:
Your role will depend on the pathway you’re chosen for, which is based on a combination of your job preference, performance and position availability.

Salary
Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $92,486.
Location
Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.
Eligibility
For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed Year 12 with passes in English and three other academic subjects.
