Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Trenchless Construction
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading heavy civil construction firm to identify an experienced Project Manager specializing in trenchless construction (microtunneling / TBM).
This is an exciting opportunity to take full ownership of complex infrastructure projects, overseeing planning, execution, financial performance, and team leadership from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Leadership
- Manage the full lifecycle of large-scale construction projects
- Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring successful delivery
- Serve as the primary point of contact between stakeholders, clients, and leadership
Safety & Compliance
- Oversee jobsite safety in accordance with OSHA and company standards
- Drive safety culture through daily Toolbox Talks and AHAs
- Ensure all field operations adhere to established protocols
Financial Oversight
- Own project budgets, forecasting, and cost tracking
- Review quantities, manage billing processes, and ensure timely submissions
- Prepare and negotiate change orders and manage extra work
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices
Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules and 4-week lookaheads
- Coordinate subcontractors, utility providers, and material deliveries
- Proactively identify and communicate schedule impacts
Planning & Documentation
- Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in subsurface/heavy civil construction
- Experience with microtunneling or tunnel boring machines (TBM) preferred
- 2+ years of Project Management experience on projects valued at $10M+
- Strong understanding of construction project financials and scheduling
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
