POSITION SUMMARY
Join our dynamic team at Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism as a Business Development Manager, focused on driving economic growth in the Technology, Finance, and Creative Industries sectors. Winnipeg's technology industry is thriving and diverse, encompassing small and medium-sized ICT companies with expertise spanning various domains, supported by an innovative developer community and a collaborative business environment that facilitates both local growth and international reach. Winnipeg is one of North America's most cost-effective cities for financial services operations boasting a roster of renowned institutions in banking, leasing, insurance, securities, & mutual funds, all proudly calling this city home. The creative industries in Winnipeg serve as a pivotal economic sector, significantly contributing to the Province's GDP, and playing a vital role in its overall economic prosperity through artistic innovation and cultural enrichment.
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will be a key player in supporting job creation, investment, and business growth within these sectors. You will be responsible for achieving set KPI’s and representing Winnipeg as a proud ambassador on the domestic, national, and global stage. The ideal candidate should possess a strong ability to engage in meaningful discussions and comprehend the operational growth and challenges faced by start-ups, scale-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large firms.
RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
· Be a client-focused ambassador for Winnipeg and Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism.
· Identify and pursue high-potential business and investment opportunities across these industries.
· Provide tailored client services to meet their unique needs and challenges.
· Utilize your industry knowledge to connect clients to resources and opportunities.
· Assist existing companies in expanding and attracting new businesses to Winnipeg.
· Manage leads and opportunities effectively using our CRM.
· Build and nurture key relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders.
· Collaborate with government partners to advance strategic objectives.
· Stay informed about industry trends, risks, and opportunities.
· Deliver exceptional client service to differentiate Winnipeg.
· Lead sector teams and contribute to strategic planning.
· Mentor and guide junior staff to foster growth and success.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business-related field. Diploma and ample sales experience also considered.
· Professional experience of 5-7 years, including business development or sales.
· Knowledge of technology, finance, and creative industries preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
