Description

About SEA.AI

Using artificial intelligence and machine vision, we provide crews on boats and ships with the most accurate digital understanding of a vessel ‘s near-field surface surroundings. We make marine mobility safer and more convenient, providing a better mobility experience at sea.

We are a multi-national team based in Austria, France, Portugal and the US. We offer a fast and agile workplace for experts from a variety of disciplines. We share a common culture shaped by ambition, autonomy, openness, honesty, and respect. As a fast-growing team of ~60 colleagues, we are large enough to create impact. We are also small enough that each team member has an influence on the way we work. To strengthen our software team in Lisbon, we are looking for a Senior QA & Automation Engineer (m/f/d), 40 hours/week.

Role overview

Quality is the line between a software update and a safety incident at sea. Our camera systems run on embedded NVIDIA Jetson hardware and are deployed on vessels operated by coast guards, rescue services, ferry operators, and recreational sailors. Your mission is to work with our two Scrum teams to create a reliable, sustainable, and thoroughly automated QA workflow that helps us ship software faster while keeping confidence high.

Responsibilities

  • Assess our current QA workflow end-to-end and design a strategy that turns it into a force multiplier, one that scales with the pace of development rather than constraining it
  • Shift quality left: embed QA thinking into the development process from specification and estimation, ensuring testability is a design consideration from day one
  • Apply risk-based assessment, identifying where automation delivers the most confidence per effort and where current practices can be safely streamlined
  • Reduce the team's reliance on fully integrated hardware for development and QA
  • Drive the automation of pre-release qualification, reducing the manual testing burden
  • Bring AI-native approaches to test generation, spec-driven test design, and failure analysis

Your profile and qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, test automation, or software quality in a professional setting
  • You make daily use of agentic coding tools and evolve your approach as the landscape moves
  • Proven track record with end-to-end, integration, and performance testing
  • Practical experience with test management and related tooling (XRay for Jira or similar)
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop, embedded systems, or IoT testing environments
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Nice to haves: familiarity with real-time video pipelines; experience testing on ARM/embedded Linux; background in automotive, aerospace, robotics, or other safety-relevant embedded domains

What we offer

  • Highly motivated, skilled, and collaborative interdisciplinary and international team
  • See your work in action: our latest systems are regularly tested on company-owned boats on the water at our business locations
  • Real mission: your work directly supports safety and rescue operations at sea
  • Opportunity to travel to our other offices and collaborate with teams across Europe and beyond
  • Flexibility: modern work culture with flexible working hours and occasional home office options
  • Subsidies for motorboat and sailing licenses, because we live what we build
  • Competitive salary in a range of 2,500 € to 3,500 € gross monthly

Ready for the Challenge?

We do look forward to receiving your complete application including earliest starting date. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome diversity. We encourage everyone to apply and will give everyone equal consideration. If you should have any questions, we are happy to answer them by email: [email protected]
