In close cooperation with partners from research, industry and other maritime security stakeholders, we combine technological innovation with practical expertise and offer you the opportunity to work on pioneering projects.
What To Expect
As part of our institute, you will lead an existing team of young researchers working on maritime civil security simulations. The position focuses on constructive simulations, in which simulated agents operate simulated systems. Such simulations are used to:
The topic brings together several areas of expertise. We are developing a simulation environment based on a game engine to represent maritime security equipment and operational scenarios. In addition, we are researching approaches in which the behaviour of individual agents in the simulation is based on machine learning models trained using reinforcement learning.
Your task
You will have the opportunity to conduct your own research in these areas while also contributing to the further development and leadership of the existing team. DLR plans its work through internally and externally funded projects. Therefore, project planning and support in acquiring third-party funding will also be part of your responsibilities.
