The Role
We are seeking a Senior Entra ID Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership across cloud and identity services within a highly‑secure environment.
In this role, you will design, implement, and uplift Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) and Azure platform capabilities, with a strong focus on identity, authentication, and access governance across cloud and hybrid environments. You will play a key role in strengthening identity security, improving governance controls, and supporting broader cloud transformation initiatives.
You will also work closely with stakeholders and technical teams to ensure identity services are resilient, secure, and aligned with Australian Government security frameworks.
Location & Engagement Details
- Locations: Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne
- Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of Microsoft Entra ID services, including identity integration, MFA, conditional access, and privileged access management.
- Strengthen identity governance and lifecycle management, including RBAC, access reviews, and secure onboarding processes.
- Contribute to the design and operation of Azure cloud services across compute, storage, monitoring, and automation.
- Develop and enhance identity and cloud security controls aligned with PSPF and ISM requirements.
- Support cloud transformation initiatives, including migration and modernisation of legacy identity platforms.
- Provide authoritative technical advice on identity, authentication, and cloud security to senior stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor technical team members, supporting capability uplift and knowledge sharing.
- Produce high‑quality documentation, including architectural artefacts and governance materials.
What You’ll Need
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity integration, governance, and hybrid identity models.
- Broad experience across Microsoft Azure services, including platform operations, monitoring, and automation.
- Experience with identity security principles, including Zero Trust, conditional access, and privileged access management.
- Demonstrated experience working within Australian Government security frameworks (PSPF, ISM) or similar high‑assurance environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and deliver outcomes in complex environments.
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Azure CLI.
