Greater Munich Metropolitan Area
At OHB System AG you’ll join a leading European systems integrator driving the future of space-based defence. In this role you’ll lead the development of a state-of-the-art system of systems simulation platform, with elements interacting in real-time. Such simulation architecture will be the backbone integrating space assets, air-defence systems and national missile-defence infrastructures across Europe enabling the development of space and air shield systems. If you thrive on technical challenges, enjoy complexity, and want to shape systems that matter on a continental scale, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate the development of the simulator’s core modules, including:
◦ Geometry module: simulation of satellite and system-of-systems positions and orientations (LEO, GEO, etc.) at each time step
◦ Scene generation module: modelling of the observed environment, including atmospheric effects and radiative transfer
◦ Sensor module: representation of geometric, spectral and radiometric sensor behaviour tailored to mission use cases
◦ Ground processor: ingestion and correction of sensor data, applying instrument-specific compensations
◦ User module: execution of image-processing algorithms to extract mission-relevant information
• Drive the creation of technical concepts and requirements for the simulator
• Manage and prioritize the software engineering tasks and backlog
• Ensure the information flow between the software team and other stakeholders, working in an international team of experts
• Monitor and control technical progress, schedule, cost and quality in collaboration with project management
• Identify, assess and mitigate software-product and project risks
• Lead the evaluation of changes that impact scope, budget or timeline
• Prepare, organize and lead technical reviews and key milestone reviews
Qualifications
• Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Experience with distributed simulation frameworks (HLA), and with system-of-systems simulation; experience in defence-related simulator development is a strong advantage
• Experience with atmospheric modelling, radiative transfer, sensor behaviour or image-processing workflows is beneficial
• Experience with applicable NATO standards and processes, and/or knowledge of related process standards from adjacent fields (such as ECSS-E-ST-40C and ECSS-Q-ST-80C or DO-178C)
• Strong skills in self-organization, prioritization and structured work planning
• High motivation, proactive mindset and strong sense of responsibility
• Outstanding communication, documentation and presentation skills
• Willingness and ability to obtain required German security clearance
• Fluency in English and German, both spoken and written
