JOB SUMMARY
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all medical equipment and biomedical systems within the hospital. The role supports high-quality patient care through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, calibration, and technical support of advanced medical technologies.
The Biomedical Engineer will work with modern and high-end medical equipment, contributing directly to the hospital’s clinical excellence and operational efficiency. The position also plays an important role in maintaining compliance with international safety standards, supporting clinical staff, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives related to healthcare technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment and devices.
Maintain and service a wide range of medical systems, including:
MRI, CT, and X-ray systems;
Patient monitoring devices;
Ventilators and anesthesia machines;
Surgical and operating room equipment;
Laboratory analyzers and diagnostic systems;
Other biomedical and clinical devices.
Utilize diagnostic and testing equipment such as:
Oscilloscopes;
Multimeters;
Electrical safety analyzers;
Patient simulators.
Respond promptly to equipment failures and minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and repair.
Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
Coordinate with external service providers and vendors regarding specialized repairs, warranties, and maintenance contracts.
2. Installation & Commissioning
Supervise installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of new medical equipment.
Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, hospital protocols, and international standards.
Conduct pre-acceptance inspections and performance verification of newly installed devices.
3. Technical Support & Staff Training
Provide technical support and guidance to physicians, nurses, technicians, and other hospital staff.
Educate users on the safe and proper operation of medical equipment.
Organize and conduct training sessions for newly installed or upgraded biomedical systems.
4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all medical equipment complies with national and international safety regulations and hospital policies.
Conduct routine electrical safety testing and preventive inspections.
Investigate equipment-related incidents and prepare technical reports with corrective and preventive action recommendations.
Participate in quality assurance, risk management, and patient safety initiatives.
5. Interdepartmental Coordination
Collaborate with IT, Facilities Management, and other technical departments to ensure effective integration of medical systems into hospital infrastructure.
Support cross-functional projects and hospital operational initiatives.
Participate in internal committees and technical meetings when required.
6. Procurement & Technology Assessment
Assist in the evaluation, selection, and procurement of new medical equipment and technologies.
Review technical specifications and assess compatibility with existing systems.
Support cost-benefit analysis and vendor evaluations.
Stay updated on advancements in biomedical technology and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports related to equipment performance, maintenance activities, safety inspections, and project progress.
Maintain updated documentation, including:
Equipment manuals;
Service reports;
Calibration records;
Compliance documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
Biomedical Engineering;
Clinical Engineering;
Electrical Engineering;
Mechanical Engineering;
or related engineering discipline.
Master’s Degree is considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in:
Biomedical Engineering;
Clinical Engineering;
Medical Equipment Maintenance/Service;
or healthcare technical support environment.
Experience working within hospitals or healthcare facilities is highly preferred.
Proven experience with a broad range of medical technologies and clinical equipment systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
