About the role
As QA Manager, you'll be building something foundational. This is your chance to establish and scale a modern quality assurance function inside a fast-growing fintech - one where the stakes are real and your work directly shapes product reliability, customer trust, and engineering velocity.
You'll lead QA across high-volume, real-time payment systems, embedding quality at every stage of the product lifecycle. Working alongside Engineering, Product, and Compliance, you'll strike the balance between speed and rigour in a regulated environment ensuring we can move fast without breaking things that matter.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define and evolve the QA strategy to support a scaling product and engineering organisation
- Build, mentor and develop a growing QA team - establishing clear standards, career pathways, and ways of working
- Embed a quality-first mindset within cross-functional squads, shifting quality ownership left
- Oversee end-to-end testing across payment systems, including transaction processing, gateway integrations, and reconciliation flows
- Establish scalable test strategies that balance speed with appropriate risk coverage
- Drive improvements in regression testing, release confidence, and defect management
- Lead the transition toward high automation coverage across APIs, services, and user interfaces
- Design and implement automation frameworks that are maintainable and scalable as the platform grows
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
- Ensure systems are tested for performance, scalability, and resilience in high-throughput environments
- Partner with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory standards (e.g. PCI-DSS)
- Support testing strategies for failover, disaster recovery, and system reliability
- Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Operations to align on release priorities and quality expectations
- Provide clear, actionable insights into quality metrics, risks, and trade-offs
- Act as the point of accountability for quality across the entire product lifecycle
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years’ experience in QA / Software Testing, including scaling QA teams or functions
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other high-volume transaction environments
- Background working in scale-up or high-growth businesses balancing speed and structure
- Proven success delivering QA strategy and test automation at scale
- Understanding of regulated environments and compliance requirements
- Strong leadership with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and bringing structure where it's needed
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with modern automation and API testing tools (e.g. REST Assured, Postman)
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar languages
- Experience integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Strong understanding of microservices and API-first architectures
- Experience with payment systems and real-time transaction processing
- Knowledge of performance testing tools and methodologies
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Working knowledge of SQL databases, Kafka, and distributed systems
