VP, Client Accounting
The VP, Client Accounting is responsible for building, standardizing, and leading the client accounting function at MD Squared Property Group. This role will establish structure, implement scalable systems, and drive accountability across the accounting team to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting for all clients. This is a highly strategic and hands-on role, focused on creating processes and infrastructure that support company growth and enhance the client experience.
Build Structure & Processes
- Standardize financial reporting across all clients
- Implement and enforce a consistent monthly close process
- Define clear ownership across the accounting team
- Establish deadlines, expectations, and accountability measures
Systems & Automation
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual, person-dependent processes
- Implement automation within AppFolio and related systems
- Design workflows that improve efficiency and reduce duplication
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance system functionality
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, manage, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Identify and promote internal talent into leadership roles
- Coach team members and address performance gaps as needed
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Financial Accuracy & Client Confidence
- Ensure financials are accurate, timely, and consistent across all clients
- Strengthen client trust through reliable reporting and communication
- Participate in client meetings and clearly present financials

Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in multi-entity or client accounting environments
- Property management or real estate experience preferred
- Proven experience building or transforming accounting processes
- Experience implementing systems and automation
- Experience with AppFolio, Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms
- CPA is a plus, but not required
