For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Geology. Candidates must be enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution for the full duration of the co-op term and plan to return to their studies upon completion of the co-op term for at least one academic term. If you are not currently located near the work location, you must be willing to commute or temporarily relocate for the duration of the term. A valid study permit and studentship letter will be required where applicable.
This role focuses on supporting machine learning- and computer vision–enabled geoscience initiatives, with a primary emphasis on automated televiewer feature picking. The successful candidate will work with structural geologists and technical specialists to test, validate, and implement automated televiewer interpretation tools. Initial work focuses on re-picking and validating televiewer data from the Red Dog mine, with potential extension to other deposits. The role integrates structural geology, data quality, and digital innovation.
You will gain hands-on experience applying machine learning and computer vision to structural geology workflows. You will have the outstanding opportunity to work with high-quality datasets from major mineral deposits and gain insight into how automated interpretation tools are validated and deployed in practice. You will also build experience connecting structural geology with digital innovation, while receiving mentorship from experienced structural geoscientists and technical experts in a collaborative Vancouver office environment!

Pay Range: CAD $4,833 - $6,125
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
