Position Summary:
Lead mechanical development from concept through production for precision instrumentation products.
Own mechanical design execution, manufacturability, tooling readiness, and cross-functional integration to support successful industrialization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
- Mechanical architecture definition and translating product requirements into robust mechanical design solutions
- Develop 3D CAD models and generate detailed 2D drawings including 2D electro-mechanical assembly (SolidWorks)
- Lead mechanical related DFM/DFA decisions and manage tooling development to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency
- Perform tolerance analysis, define mechanical risks, and support validation testing
- Support prototype builds, regulatory readiness, and transfer to production
- Collaborate closely with optical, electrical, firmware, operations teams, and external suppliers
- Participate in design review meetings.
- Risk assessment and troubleshoot design issues and drive continuous improvement of existing products and support local supplier technical interactions
- Interact with outside suppliers and vendors especially for China local sources
- Prepare test protocols, perform tests to verify and validate designs / processes, and document test completion reports
Experience & Qualification
You have:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
- Experience handling a product development project independently from concept through final prototype stage.
- Experience utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling software.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience generating designs that utilize injection molded plastic, die cast, sheet metal and machined components.
- Good understanding of tolerance stack-up and assembly relationships
- Knowledge of materials, heat transfer, interconnect technology design
- Knowledge of opto-mechanical (components and sub-systems) is a plus
- Written English Communication and presentation skills is a plus
- Ability to project professionalism to coworkers and work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to take initiative and to follow through on projects
- Time management skills, with the ability to work in a demanding environment
- Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite Software products.
