In effort to increase collaboration between our Platform Engineering teams and Product Engineering teams, we melded the two groups together back to a single Engineering department. In this change, I acquired Product teams to manage, alongside the Core efforts I continued to coordinate (but more in the background). In this role I manage our Payroll, Payroll Calculations, Time/Mobile, and Payments teams. I am required to work directly with one other Director to ensure the streamlined collaboration and success of our Engineering department. As Directors, we are expected to be the driving force to help our Engineering department not only continue to improve our applications, but also ensure our technology stack is well maintained and up to date.
I managed our development teams who created the platform/core services that our other application teams would integrate. These platform development teams were our Core (formerly Special Projects) team, Component team, Mobile team, and Payments team.
I was given the opportunity to manage the team I previously worked with as my direct manager was moving on to other opportunities. I managed the group of highly technical engineers I previously worked with, while still occasionally working in the codebase as time allowed. The team transitioned from "Special Projects Group" to "Core Engineering" in June of 2023. I also managed other Core engineering teams, including UI Components, Mobile, and Payments. I currently work with these groups to create an architectural foundation for Product Engineering teams to use as they build their product features and technical improvements. My teams also collaborate highly with other groups, including DevOps, Data, QA, and Product Managment to ensure we are meeting high standards and producing value quickly with the high skillset the engineers provide.
Lead UI developer for the team. Worked closely with Product to help design and integrate applications with new APIs. Implement new web application and workflows, and modify existing web applications to consume new services. Coordinated communication with other technology teams to facilitate development. Helped design backend API and underlying SQL schema.
Mentored by principal engineer to help develop new products and functionality throughout the suite of applications. Held a position on the sustainment team where the main focus was bug fixes and helping to remedy any production issues that may be encountered. Invested a large amount of time researching SEO and implementing new techniques into a public-facing consumer application. Worked closely with partner developer to help create a new back-end for the consumer application to help facilitate SEO results. Constantly tweaked, monitored, and improved functionality in the consumer application to increase SEO performance, which resulted in almost 2 million indexed pages on a previously low-rated SEO application.
Worked closely with all developers on the team and performed assigned tasks with set deadlines. Helped introduce new functionality while learning about the suite of applications at OEC. Helped create documentation for new projects and standards.
