About

I have just graduated with a first class honours degree in BA (Hons) Fashion Collection Design. In my 4 years in LSAD, Limerick I have learned a plethora of skills including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Garment design and construction, Tech Packs, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting and Ultra Sonic Welding among many others. I have set up my own business ‘EabhaDalyDesign’ in July 2024 and built my website on Wordpress (www.eabhdalydesign.com). I have a passion for denim and heavier fabrics of that variety. I have worked with denim throughout my collection along with other heavyweight fabrics, leather and wool. I developed a denim skirt in my collection which used contemporary cut and unexpected design elements. Due to the project’s concept addressing misogyny, objectification and the reclaiming of our bodies, I took the traditional feminine bustier and challenged it’s symbolism as the epitome off femininity by moving it to the torso. I covered bra cups in two-tone denim and placed them over the derrière. I got to be familiar with denim throughout my degree, seeming to continuously gravitate towards it when beginning a project. My current role as a Freelance Junior Designer with Fi Bourke Design has allowed me to design and construct advanced garments for professional clients, from pole dancers to wrestlers (a selection of pieces can be seen on the Netflix series 'WWE Raw'). After 6 years of working with Fi Bourke Design, I have honed my sewing skills and gained notable attention to detail. My internship with award-winning designer Tom Van Der Borght (TVDB) in Ghent, Belgium further expanded my experience in design development, garment construction, and digital design tools including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. I was involved in an outstanding project with TVDB which saw a collaboration with Hans Boodt Mannequins. I aided design and developed flat drawings on Illustrator and displayed potential colour ways that then went into development for 3-D printing with the Hans Boodt company. While working on another project, I was tasked with creating a variety of vector prints for a collection that was in progress. Within my 4 months with TVDB I also worked on a denim project which had a major focus on sustainability and out-of-the-box thinking. As a team, we sampled endless denim washes and pattern designs through bleaching. Working within an international creative environment reinforced my adaptability, collaboration skills, and enthusiasm for innovative fashion design.

I completed a four month Fashion Design Internship which involved shadowing the designer, hands on work with garment construction, attending supplier meetings and partaking in the conversations regarding design. Along with working on Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop files and creating videos on Filmora. I learned to work creatively with new people, how designer's processes can differ, how to adapt in a new environment and how to incorporate and improve creativity with a interesting use of AI.    During my four-month fashion design internship, I worked directly alongside the principal designer, gaining comprehensive insight into the end-to-end creative and operational lifecycle of a fashion house. I actively contributed to hands-on garment construction, participated in strategic supplier negotiations, and engaged in collaborative design development meetings.
