I am an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of delivering value through cultural change and continuous improvement in international, multi-national and matrix environments across a wide range of risk disciplines. I live for the opportunity to make a positive impact on organisations and individuals by helping them to make conscious, value-based risk decisions, both in my professional and voluntary roles. I believe in the importance of having a broad understanding of operational risk to identify and capitalise on the potential cross-impact of risks and controls - that's what drives me! I have been extremely fortunate to work in a variety of roles that allow me to live and work based on my passions. My employers face a number of unique risks and challenges, including different regulatory and cultural environments, distributed information systems with different resilience requirements, and keeping employees safe in challenging environments. Success in this context requires the ability to balance local business needs with corporate appetites and aspirations in a clear, focused and flexible manner that meets the needs of a complex stakeholder landscape without losing focus on ethics and business integrity. I'm passionate about what I do!

Initially starting my career as a trainee in the Security and Fire Department. I quickly gained knowledge about various technological aspects of security. My competence in this field, coupled with developing leadership and management skills, led to my being appointed as a manager with line management responsibilities for the guard force and for leading investigations as well as performing risk assessments. In this role I picked up different surveillance and interviewing techniques and specialized in analysing root-causes, as well progressing my leadership skills. In this capacity it was essential to maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including the enforcement authorities. Having demonstrated my leadership skills, I was promoted to Department Manager and took responsibility for general and strategic leadership of the department as well as budgeting and service quality management.
