Development of AI-powered Procurement Solutions Collaborating with recent graduates from ETH Zürich and the University of St. Gallen on selected projects and niche initiatives. The objective is to combine my decades of hands-on procurement and supply chain leadership experience with the perspectives and technical capabilities of the next generation—designing practical applications of AI that augment human expertise, improve decision-making, and create measurable business value. Being inspired by the challenges and fun developing mature processes and organizations within a growing business, I decided to enter into my next professional chapter with another industry leader in the medical area. I enjoyed a lot driving global transformation and setting the fundamentals of business operation in three different continents. Another place where I could take the most benefit of my P2P background, to link it with the newly introduced S2C practices, to create a best-in-class and audit-proof S2P environment. The particular focus on indirect spend management delivered excellent results on CAPEX, OPEX and other categories, contributing to the bottom-line results of the company.
Ultimately in charge for the globally controlled spend of the company. The organization was mature enough to make a flawless navigation through the crisis induced by the global pandemic. We had to learn how to work remotely, yet closer than ever to ensure an undisrupted supply chain and maintain our status of Global No.1 healthcare supplier to the people in need. I was directly responsible for giving comfort to our customers regards to the daily risk mitigation efforts. These years teached me great lessons about team work, partnership, leadership and the times when we can show who we are, what is our value contribution and how Procurement can make a difference.
Creating a stabile and sustainably growing business environment in the first period of duties, I could then more focus on the supplier relationship and product lifecycle management. It highly improved the COGS and the profitability of the company. On the continual improvement side I had been part of great cross-functional projects where I could ensure the strong presence of procurement through the assignment of my category- or commodity managers, I was also maintaining executive reports prepared for the Board and the Shareholders.
In my following role in the sourcing management, I joined Invacare Corporation (acquired Küschall AG) to build-up a new procurement organization from scratch. In a developing environment I successfully secured compliance within the medical segment and delivered on ISO requirements to make a department conform to the strictest demands. Ramping-up a newly hired team and building them together with the other stakeholders had been a great pleasure and common achievement.
Toshiba Corporation (acquired Landis+Gyr AG in 2011). The next chapter of my professional life what definitely completed my operational P2P mindset with all the strategic S2C considerations and business aspects to form a full S2P responsibility. In the role of COE Global Supply Chain Management I was leading commercial negotiations, global strategy deployment and E2E risk control over the multi-Billion value chain. All these came along with the introduction of new tools and processes, as well as driving transformation across the global organization of 20+ highly performing individuals. It also consists of the introduction of e-based solutions, and i4.0 practices as pioneer within the community. For a period I was also in charge for the Global Supplier Quality Assurance where my quality mindset and VDA6.3 Auditor certification both proved beneficial. In this role I was managing the ESG (EHS) compliance for the supplier base. I had been honored to assign to the MBA program of Yale School of Management.
After graduating my Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics, Finance and Management with Magna cum laude honor, I looked for an opportunity to learn more about business and operations. I cannot imagine a better place than a vibrant factory with 11k+ workers serving the TOP global customers within the Automotive, Computing, Industrial and Consumer segments. Flextronics International (Global No2 EMS) granted me an environment where I could quickly develop myself into a decision-making team leader while understanding the nuts & bolts of the day-to-day business operation. I left the company with a highly motivated team of 25 top-delivering individuals and successful mitigation of the GFC across 2008 and 2009.
