I am a student and scientist, passionate about the act of learning and looking forward to pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at Case Western Reserve University and continuing my journey toward a career in research. I am curious and dedicated to uncovering the underlying molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease. As an undergraduate, I performed novel research on the neuronal activity of the nematode C. elegans in relation to microtubule polyglutamylation. I have pursued every available opportunity to strengthen my scientific mind and process, exercising flexibility and pivoting as needed when certain opportunities fell through. I am committed to science, and to bettering the world through my unique contributions.
I prepare solutions and set up for laboratory experiments, assist the professor during procedures and outside of lab times with experiments, and provide procedural and experimental assistance to students during lab. I also host exam review sessions for the students.
I use a pharmacological approach to investigate the effects of microtubule post-translational modifications, specifically polyglutamylation, on the neuronal activity and behavior of C. elegans. I am utilizing my research results and experience over the course of my senior year to write and defend an Honors in the Major Field thesis.
I offer drop-in tutoring hours for students seeking help in General Chemistry, General Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. I also offer writing consultation appointments for students seeking help with written assignments for any subject, as well as Academic Skills tutoring in which I teach students effective study strategies.
Performed and assisted in a wide variety of environmental analyses on aqueous, drinking water, sludge, soil, hazardous waste, and sediment samples, identifying potential contaminants present in the samples. Analyses were performed on samples from government agencies, environmental consultants, industrial and manufacturing clients, homeowners, and other laboratories.
Offered one-on-one tutoring for STEM-based subjects (ex: Honors Chemistry) at a high school level
Supervised and organized employees of the ropes course, zip line, and rock wall. Monitored and ensured participant safety throughout activity participation.
Provided coaching in both the game of golf and life skills to children ages 6-17.
