My name is Tan Zhi Xuan, a dedicated and motivated undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Polymer Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia. With a strong academic performance and a current CGPA of 3.75, I have developed a solid foundation in materials science, particularly in polymer behaviour, processing, and characterization. Throughout my studies, I have cultivated a growing interest in the semiconductor industry, especially in areas related to process engineering, failure analysis, and advanced manufacturing technologies. My academic journey has provided me with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. I have gained experience in analyzing material properties, identifying defects, and understanding structure–property relationships through coursework in polymer analytical and failure analysis. In addition, I have worked on engineering design projects using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and applied basic programming skills with Arduino to perform digital data acquisition and measurement. These experiences have strengthened my technical competency as well as my problem-solving and analytical thinking skills. Beyond academics, I actively seek opportunities to expand my knowledge of real-world engineering applications. I participated in the Design for Plastics Circularity Challenge (DPCC) 2025, where my team was selected as a Top 30 finalist for developing an innovative floating robot concept aimed at addressing plastic waste issues. I have also completed the K-Youth Programme in Semiconductor SMT Manufacturing, where I was introduced to PCB assembly processes, ESD control, and basic failure analysis in electronics manufacturing. Furthermore, exposure to industry practices through an introductory lecture by Micron enhanced my understanding of semiconductor backend processes and packaging technologies. As an individual, I am detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn. I enjoy tackling complex engineering problems and continuously strive to improve my skills, particularly in data analysis, process optimization, and manufacturing systems. I am also comfortable working in team environments, where I value collaboration and effective communication to achieve shared goals.
