Around 15 years solid work experience with both academia (TU/e, DPI) and industry (GE/SABIC). Proven background in technical leadership with key skills around: - Polymer processing, optical film/sheet extrusion and roll to roll process. - New Product Introduction, project management, lab management and Lean/Six Sigma. - Deep industry knowledge and insights in applications of engineering plastics including display, touch screen and automotive. - Experience in leading a dedicated R&D team in identifying new market opportunities, developing technologies and solutions supporting new business segments outside of its current core competency as well as maintaining technology edge of its existing product portfolio. - Experience in leading multiple platform/NPI/product translation projects with cross-functional teams collaboration (technology, manufacturing, product marketing & sales) and with result of significant business impact.
- Work with IM (Industry Marketing) partner to understand market trend and unmet needs, assess and identify both short term and long term business opportunities that can help the topline growth in Display/Film segment. Build product roadmap, develop technology roadmap and translate those into well-defined technology building blocks or competencies to be developed by T&I (Technology and Innovation) function. - Technology scouting, validation and proof of concept by leveraging both internal resources and external collaboration with industry partners/Universities/Institutes. - Project management: initiate and follow through the execution of T&I projects. Drive a vigorous stage/gate process to maintain the data quality of overall project deck for Display/Film segment.
- Project management of SF&S Technology platform/NPI (New Product Introduction)/RTS (Ready-to-service) in Asia Pacific region. Prioritize resources and activities to grow focus segments and sustain core product market position. - Work with product marketing and commercial teams to identify new opportunities/technologies and create pipeline of new technology projects. - People management of SF&S Pacific technology team with 15 people including product developers and technicians. Build and grow the team to support and sustain the SF&S business growth in the Pacific region through recruiting, development of key talents, and led the team to achieve business goals and individual career objectives. - EHS responsibility and management of three SF&S labs (Optical Film extrusion lab in class 1000 clean room, Optical testing lab and Organic Coating lab) - Facilitate communications with Global SF&S Technology, Product Marketing, commercial and GE CTC (China Technology Center) leadership team to accelerate the delivery of Platform/NPI programs.
- Lead DFSS projects for NPI(new product introduction)/platforms of PC film in display/Electronics/Graphic applications. - Manage a film lab with class 1000 clean room and a pilot film extrusion line. Ensure local team’s EHS and compliance objectives are achieved.
Leading design/development of optical grade PC films for various LCD back-light module and touch panel applications. Application examples: prismatic, micro-lens and lenticular films used in light management for LCD TVs.
