About

I am a geneticist, who is interested in how populations change throughout their evolutionary history. Currently I am working on my PhD project where I try to understand selective forces and adaptations that lead some birds to lose their ability to fly.

Experience

  • PHD Student at University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet)
    Feb 2024 - Present · 2 yrs 6 mos

My PhD project is on revealing the evolutionary genomic background of flight loss in birds, focusing on less studied families such as Rallidae and Podicipedidae.

  • Researcher at Senckenberg, Forschungsinstitut u. Naturmuseum Abt. DZMB
    Jun 2022 - Mar 2023 · 10 mos

During my time in the Senckenberg Research Institute, I worked on genetic tracing of potential hybrids between European wildcat (Felis silvestris) and domestic cat (Felis catus) in Germany.

  • Masters Thesis at Leibniz Association
    Jan 2021 - Nov 2021 · 11 mos

My Master's Thesis was on deciphering the reproductive behaviour of a cichlid species Benitochromis nigrodorsalis who reproduced in isolation. We compared whole genome sequences of the mother to her offspring to understand whether she reproduced via self replication or parthenogenesis.
