I am a Product designer and concept developer with a broad interest in Spatial- and Graphic design as well. My process defines my work, working from a thorough analysis of the stakeholders' perspective towards a successful product. I love complex problems and thrive in creating integrated solutions. I believe in creating a sense of quiet awareness in the use of products, and stripping away distractions. I help entrepeneurs translate their idea or message into clear designs that aim to evoke a positive surprise to the user. Problem solver with a healthy dosis of intuitive empathy for the user and a keen eye for aesthetics. Credentials: Industrial Design Engineer with a Master's degree in Integrated Product Design. Concept development and communication. Integrated product design (analysis, user interaction, concept building, engineering, aesthetics). Modular system design and automatisation. Extended portfolio upon request.
Driven by a healthy fascination for user behaviour, formgiving and technology, I work towards a succesful product using an integral design process. I have worked on a variety of projects in industrial-, spatial- and information design, but in most of my projects these disciplines merge. I believe in creating a sense of quiet awareness in the use of products, and stripping away distractions. I help entrepeneurs translate their idea or message into clear designs that aim to evoke a positive surprise to the user.
With the modular sub-assemblies and the system ready for custom orders a Product configurator was developed in which the customer can assemble their own custom play tower. - Co-developed product configurator enabling customers to create bespoke play tower designs, integrating automated manual generation - Integration of entire product portfolio into digital configurator platform in close collaboration with the tech team - Delivered 3D product content, renders, and presentation materials for online sales channels - Oversaw safety compliance, both in sub-assembly level and in assembly interaction level (including low-code rule configuration and validation) - Produced 2D content assets for automated documentation (icons, safety warnings, dimension drawings, assembly steps) - Quality control and supervision of sub-assembly manual creation.
- Complete overhaul of the JG product portfolio using the same modularisation strategy, further expanding it to the medium and large product ranges. Timber BOMs translated into a focused collection of pre-cut lengths for fulfillment center efficiency and drop-shipping operations. Existing tower layouts were reimagined into the modular system. - Sub-assembly design from idea to final product. - Redesign and engineering of plastic and metal parts to optimise cost and effectiveness of assembly packs, changed production methods, design for injection moulding. (Handgrips, slides, rope-connectors, swing-brackets etc.) - Advised legal team on intellectual property matters
- Redesigned entry-level tower range into fully modular product line focused towards smaller gardens - Standardized timber length collection and assembly packs, optimized for pick-and-pack fulfillment - Created sub-assembly modules providing flexible tower configurations - Developed unified assembly instruction system across all product variants
Worked on the development of multiple new (often injection moulded) consumer and B2B products for various clients. For this position the majority of my activities were part of a design engineering role. Active in all phases of development: analysis, concept development, detailing and engineering for production, protyping, testing. While at Helder-id I have broadened my knowledge about detailing for mould design and -specification and my tasks included also adjusting the part designs to fix issues that were recognised in the FOTs. Projects that I have participated in include the designs of a medical self-sampler, cattle tracking device, hands-free soap dispenser, water-filtering unit, eV-charger mounting-pole and an eV-charger connector.
The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology embarked on a four-year project to develop ‘the ultra-eco-friendly plane’. For this revolutionary (BWB) aircraft I developed the interior cabin design and its usage scenario. Some of the core issues were: passenger orientation, efficiency, flexibility and comfort. A customer research was performed in collaboration with KLM.
Collaboration with Phillip Lühl on an architecture competition for a new sustainable residence of the mayor of Rotterdam. 1st prize.
