* Development of long term artistic planning initiatives. * Negotiate all artistic department contracts : guest artists, studio artists, orchestra, chorus, and actors. * Manage artistic personnel data using Arts Vision and Filemaker Pro platforms. * Supervise an Artistic Department staff of four. * Manage the development process for new commissions. * Oversee all matters related to negotiating and complying with the CBAs for AFM and AGMA. * Ensure media projects are executed in accordance with the AFM IMA and Film Agreements. * Create and manage an annual department budget of approximately $2 million. * Collaborate with the General Director on recruiting directors, conductors, and singers for mainstage productions. * Work with Development, Marketing, and Education departments on fundraising efforts. * Plan local and national auditions tours for mainstage and studio artists * Speak on behalf of Arizona Opera at various company events.
• Identify, screen and hire potential artists for future productions • Plan, schedule and operate auditions for main-stage and studio artists • Prepare and negotiate artist contracts with artist managers; Arrange for ancillary documentation including visas • Research and provide strategic planning for repertoire, directors, conductors, etc.; Coordinate artistic initiatives with General Director and Director of Studio Artist Program. • Collaborate with Development, Marketing, and Education departments to insure proper revenue generation, grant-writing success, and dissemination of artistic initiatives • Create, oversee and efficiently execute a departmental budget of $1.6 million to improve artistic quality of performances at Arizona Opera as regards orchestra, chorus, guest soloists, music staff and visiting guest artists * Manage all artistic department logistics, including housing and transportation for guest artists, chorus and orchestra
