I am an incredibly logical person who likes attention to detail and problem solving. I love being a software tester because it takes all these attributes to investigate and find issues which in turn makes things better thus resulting in happier people, who get exactly what they want. When I was younger, I didn’t know what I wanted to do as a career, I had so many different interests and ideas, so when the time came to leave school, I decided to join the Army and ‘see the world’. Though this didn’t happen as I had hoped, I did get posted to Germany, but after 5 years I knew the army wasn’t for me. Unfortunately, at this point I still didn’t know what I wanted to do so after completing my service, I joined a temp agency and worked as an administrator for a variety of different companies until I got a temp job at Trakm8, this was where things started falling into place. I started at Trakm8 17 years ago as a temp and through a series of different events and my ability to adapt and learn, I grew from an administrator to the technical support team leader. When the company was asked to develop a bespoke tracking software product for a new client, I took the challenge and opportunity to carry out the testing requirements of the project, where finally my passions, experience and skills all combined in to the ideal role in which I now work. It was not something I had planned or expected but it was a perfect fit, and I haven’t looked back since. 11 years later I am an experienced and methodical ISTQB Certified Software Tester working in a manual testing environment. I have been heavily involved with the successful testing and delivery of 5 bespoke software projects for customers as well as the ongoing development and maintenance of our own web and mobile applications. I am well versed in the Software Development Life Cycle, methodologies and fundamental testing processes. I have worked with and have experience in a variety of tools including Jira, Bugzilla, Trello, Katalon Studio and I have a working knowledge of Java, Javascript, HTML and SQL, and I have recently begun a journey into Automation and API testing, developing my skills in these areas by doing courses in Selenium Webdriver, Python and Postman.
