I help electricity market and grid operators and related organisations make better decisions on complex electricity market design questions. My work focuses on market rules, pricing mechanisms, congestion management, balancing arrangements, cross-border coordination, and the analytical or algorithmic tools needed to support implementation. Before founding Smart Vision, I held market design and R&D responsibilities at the Belgian power exchange. I contributed to foundational European electricity market projects, including the development of COSMOS/EUPHEMIA, flow-based market coupling, and XBID. Today, I provide independent specialist support to market operators, transmission system operators, consulting teams, and organisations facing complex design or implementation choices. Typical assignments include: - framing market design options and trade-offs; - reviewing pricing, congestion or balancing mechanisms; - translating regulatory, operational and algorithmic constraints into workable choices; - supporting modelling, optimisation and decision tools; - facilitating technical workshops and expert discussions. My approach is calm, precise and close to implementation: enough technical depth to keep the design robust, and enough clarity to help teams make decisions.
