Yves Van Gerven is specialized in Belgian and EU competition Law. He is currently the Director of Legal Affairs of the Belgian Competition Authority (2018 - present). Between 1989 and 2016, he practiced EU and Belgian competition law and regulatory law at the Brussels Bar. He has specialist expertise in regulated industries (e.g. telecoms, media, energy and transport), market regulations, EU State aid and economic law. From 1995-1998, he was référendaire at the Court of Justice of the European Union and from 2016-2018 he held that position at the General Court of the European Union. From 2013 to 2016, he was an assessor of the Competition College of the Belgian Competition Authority. From 2014-2016, he was a member of the Raad van de Nederlandstalige Orde van Advocaten of the Brussels Bar.
