About

At an age when most are still finding their path, Yusuf Shobair has shaped national and international policy in education, youth rights, food security, health, and social justice. A respected leader, he has influenced policies affecting millions through collaborations with government ministers, policymakers, and academics. As a Youth MP and European Member of Youth Parliament, Yusuf has represented young people on critical issues. As an Ambassador for the Children’s Commissioner, he ensures the voices of vulnerable youth are heard at the highest levels. His leadership in Redbridge Youth Council, Corporate Parenting Advisory Committee, and Pan London Children in Care Council has driven policies improving young lives. Through the Corporate Parenting Advisory Committee, his efforts led to the refurbishment of the Maya Angelou Family Contact Centre. Yusuf has also partnered with the Department for Education (DfE), UNICEF, and local governments on education and wellbeing initiatives. A passionate advocate for food security, Yusuf has worked to combat food poverty and promote sustainable food systems. Through partnerships with Leaders Unlocked, Aspire, and Partnership for Young London, he amplifies youth voices in policymaking and drives projects aimed at improving access to nutritious food. Yusuf has also played a vital role in education reform, collaborating with leaders like Sir Ian Bauckham CBE (Ofqual) and Professor Nic Beech (Universities UK) on curriculum design and teacher development. During the pandemic, he supported key workers’ children with physical activities, promoting wellbeing through sports. As an advocate for youth health, Yusuf has worked with the Smoking and Vaping Board, London Youth Games, and World Class Schools Quality Mark to champion access to sports and healthy lifestyles. He has led anti-racism campaigns with schools, working with Coram Voice and BECOME to advocate for young people in care. Yusuf’s impact extends to community development. He has been recognised by: Downing Street, the Deputy Mayor of London for Environment, Senior Advisor to The Mayor, the Cabinet Member for Children and Families and the Director of Children’s Services in Haringey. Recognised as a changemaker, Yusuf has worked alongside leading figures, including John Laramy CBE (Exeter College) and Lisa O’Loughlin (Nelson and Colne College). His influence continues to grow, making him a powerful voice in youth policy, education, and social justice.
