About

At Rhode Island School of Design, my role as Woodshop Monitor intertwines my academic pursuits in furniture design with hands-on technical support, safeguarding a creative and secure studio environment. With my fluency in Chinese and English, I bridge communication and foster an inclusive workspace, reflecting my dedication to design excellence and safety. As I approach the culmination of my furniture design studies, my aspirations are geared towards making impactful contributions to the design world. My experience at Beijing Xueyou Creative and Culture Co., Ltd, where I honed my design and craftsmanship skills, amplifies my readiness to embark on new professional adventures post-graduation. Artist Bio: Yining Ge 葛逸宁 (b. 2001, Hangzhou, China) is a furniture designer currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in Hangzhou, China, and has lived in Vermont and Rhode Island. Recently, he completed his bachelor's degree in furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Yining primarily works with wood, also engages in projects involving metal, ceramics, and textiles. His deep connection with materials lends him a contemplative vision, allowing him to see beyond the surface. Drawing inspiration from monolithic structures, his studio practice explores the relationship between materiality and graphic silhouettes. Additionally, Yining's work is an exploration, a quest to redefine functionality within the realms of the utilitarian, merging the practical within every creation.
