Yin is a Senior Editor at Nature Sustainability, handling research and opinion pieces across environmental science and engineering. His editorial scope includes resource recycling, waste valorization, pollution control, and related processes for environmental applications. He holds a PhD in Environmental Technology from Wageningen University. Prior to joining Nature Sustainability, he served as an Associate Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University for 2.5 years, and published many research articles and review papers in various high-impact journals such as Nature Water and Water Research. Earlier in his career, he worked in the water industry as a Senior Technology Management and R&D Engineer. In addition to his expertise in academic publishing, scientific research, and industry, Yin possesses deep insights into China’s policy-making landscape. In his spare time, he serves as a consulting expert for the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and is a Young Member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, actively participating in political consultation. Many of his policy briefings have been adopted by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
• Handle manuscripts in the broad areas of environmental engineering and technologies, including resources recycling, waste valorization, pollution control/remediation, other processes/reactions/systems for environmental applications, and sustainability assessment of environmental engineering practices and technologies. Expanded handling area to include sustainable materials, clean production, sustainable infrastructure, green synthesis, and industrial ecology from 2023. • Commission and edit front-half content, including Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, Policy Briefs, News & Views, and World View. • Write editorial content, such as Editorials, Year in Review pieces. • Establish and maintain good professional relationships with other Nature Portfolio Editors and the global sustainability research community. • Enhance the visibility and engagement of Nature Sustainability within the international research community through lab visits and conference attendance. • Train new Editors when needed. • Support sales and marketing departments when needed.
• Led research on resource recovery and wastewater treatment, resulting in 7 granted patents and several scientific publications. • Taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses. • Supervised Master`s students. • Co-supervised PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
