I am a second-year student at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), actively pursuing my diploma in Accountancy and Finance. My journey at NYP began in 2022, and I am expected to graduate in mid-2026. My passion for accounting and the Chinese Language ignited my aspirations to become an adept accountant and an accomplished Chinese-English Translator, as Steve Jobs once said, 'The only way to do great work is to love what you do.' I promised myself that I would become my father’s business accountant. I am pursuing this diploma to grasp a better understanding of how accounting works and enhance my ability to contribute to his business. I am steadfast in my resolve not to only excel academically but also to gain practical insights that will pave the way for impactful contributions to his business. As a child, I would eagerly sit beside him, looking at those complex financial operations that kept his business running. Those early experiences have fueled my eagerness to assist with my father's business. Optimism is my enduring strength. When life throws challenges my way, I constantly put in my best effort to hold onto a positive outlook, viewing them as opportunities for improvement. Being optimistic during the Polytechnic Foundation Programme kept me fully committed to my academics. With an optimistic mindset as my guiding light, it motivated me to strive for excellence and successful outcomes. Outside of school, you can often see me enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I love taking long walks with my furry companion and I am a fan of Chinese debate shows, as they nurture my affinity for the Chinese culture. I have gained valuable experience in customer service, product knowledge, and sales strategies. I have learned how to work in a fast-paced environment, helping customers find the perfect solutions and providing good services.
As a Banquet Server, I have learned the importance of teamwork in delivering services to our guests. I work harmoniously with colleagues and event organizers to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests during weddings.
As an executive member of the Green Club, I actively contributed to driving sustainable initiatives and environmental awareness within our community. Collaborating with the team, I played an important role in organizing and executing eco-friendly campaigns. We promote recycling programmes and foster a culture of sustainability within our school and the community. This experience honed my leadership skills and prepared me to drive more positive changes for a greener future.
