Motivated by a Christ-fuelled desire to serve the community around me and a love for medical work, I made a career switch in April 2013 to study Nursing at Nanyang Polytechnic through the WDA-sponsored PCP-RN programme. Subsequently I got a MOH scholarship and obtained a Bachelors in Science (Nursing Studies) at King's College London in the UK, before starting work in the Surgical High Dependency Unit at CGH. In Aug 2019 I joined the Nursing Education department to work on a project in Palliative Care; I later joined the Palliative Care Service. I completed my Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care in 2020 and have been actively providing and seeking to improve end-of-life care for patients and families since.
I held the position of Project Editor in the Higher Education department and was responsible for managing editorial work of educational materials for tertiary level institutions in Asia Pacific. Apart from copyediting and proofreading, I liaised with authors, printers, freelancers, inventory and product specialists, as well as the sales team to transform manuscripts into physical books. I also had the opportunity to go for editorial training courses such as Indexing, and conducted small workshops within my editorial team.
