If we've met, I've probably told you about my time volunteering, teaching kids from my neighbourhood how to do their homework, and learning the role of privilege in our education system. Or about my internship at Eden School, where I worked with children with special needs and left with a changed understanding of what the social sector could look like. Or about stumbling into a venture builder, gawking at scale-ups, talking to their founders, and asking myself: how do I fit impact into a business? It wasn't a single moment. But across all of it, I grew to have a deep conviction that maximising potential, across humans, across resources, is not just a worthy pursuit. It's the work I want my waking hours to focus on. At my core, I think I've built a career wanting to do fun and impactful things, and bringing along a bunch of friends and allies with me. That sounds simple. In practice, it's meant spending the better part of a decade building communities, navigating systems that resist change, and refusing to accept that the way things are is the way they have to be. I bring my curiosities about systems, possibilities, and entrepreneurship to catalyse action and one of the greatest things I've learnt as a founder is how to navigate uncertainties amongst possibilities. That stubbornness led me to co-found Hatch, a social venture built on the belief that access to meaningful work should not depend on who you already know or what you already have. I lead heart-first. For a long time I thought that was something to temper. I've since learnt it's a strength, but only when paired with the willingness to own your decisions and sit honestly with their consequences. I care deeply about authentic communication, about the quality of relationships, and about building things that are designed to outlast the people who built them. I also serve as Board Chair of Kita - a youth development non-profit that uses person-centric and participatory practices to return agency to youths and their communities. Kita grew out of something we kept noticing at Hatch: that when you journey closely enough with learners, you start asking bigger questions. What if development didn't begin and end with career programs? What if we could build and honour spaces where people get to discover who they are, not just what they can do? Kita is our attempt to answer it. I'm always energised by people who are building something real - community builders, founders, anyone working at the intersection of impact and enterprise. Hatch started with the dream for a more equitable world where opportunities are made available and accessible to those who deserve them. That led us to set up the first training academy in Singapore that prepares underserved groups for the digital economy (Hatch Academy) as well as the first media agency in Singapore that is specialised to help micro- and small-businesses navigate a complex and uncertain digitalisation journey (Hatch Mediahouse). https://www.hatch.sg/
Through a participatory and co-creative process, Kita walks with under-resourced youths as they claim their agency through belonging, expression, and practice.
Youth panels are a new youth partnership initiative under Forward Singapore that aims to increase opportunities for youths to be involved in policymaking. Each youth panel will be youth-led, supported by the Government, and tackle a policy area that is of interest to youths. I am under the #JobHacks: Careers & Lifelong Learning youth panel.
