Scentrics is a cyber-security company with a unique and simple answer to some of the most intractable online problems facing consumers, businesses and governments. ⚫ Designed and developed a client library in C++ to allow application developers to easily use the Scentrics APIs. ⚫ Lead the team of application developers on iOS and Android, providing support and problem solving. ⚫ Implemented and maintained parts of an Android SDK to facilitate the use of the client library in mobile applications.
Samsung is the leader in the Smart TV market. The AV Research Lab in Staines main focus is on pushing the boundaries of Smart TV capabilities. ⚫ Designed and developed Samsung's Connected EPG solution, integrating IP TV to the broadcast experience on Smart TVs. Worked closely with project managers from concept to commercialisation. ⚫ Adapted HbbTV to each year's platform, most importantly changed the JavaScript engine from JSC to V8, ported to new Application Framework. ⚫ Optimised the first prototype of Samsung's Hospitality TV offering, helping to secure approval from HQ for the project. This is now one of Samsung's most successful products.
NDS is a leading global provider of end-to-end software solutions for the pay television industry. NDS clients include many of the largest cable, satellite and broadband pay-TV operators. ⚫ Participated in the development of several components on products based on the Fusion middleware, notably the Gaudi user interface for BSkyB. ⚫ Followed most projects from the early stage of architecture and design, to the implementation and testing, then provided support during the integration phase. ⚫ Developed new PVR features for DirecTV and also solved the stability issues of the middleware in its early stage. In the later days of the project, worked on experimental features such as widgets then successfully assumed the Technical lead on the DirecTV Latin America project.
Sharp Telecommunications of Europe, a leading-edge mobile technology company, has a technology portfolio encompassing a wide range of products including Mobile Phones, Smart Phone, PDA’s and Mobile Internet Devices. ⚫ Designed and implemented (C and C++) various enhancement to the user interface of the 3G mobile phone products based on EMP (Ericsson Mobile Platform), most importantly the live! Postcard feature. ⚫ Improved the menu system, added support for the Thai language in the phonebook, designed and implemented enhancements to the SMS and USSD features on Sharp's 2.5G products for European and Far East network Operators.
3G Lab provided mobile interface software enabling operators to brand and theme a mobile phone's user interface. It later became a subsidiary of Qualcomm. ⚫ Implemented core features of the Trigenix customisable user interface for 3G mobile phones, written in C++. ⚫ Developed a Resource Builder tool in Java to generate binary files and source code for Trigenix. Created a System Test Framework, a C++ client/server and Perl scripts to exercise functionality testing. ⚫ Implemented new features (C language) to the Alligata WAP and SMS gateway based on the Open Source project Kannel and continued to provide support long after the end of the company's involvement in the project.
