Formerly known as the Tata Administrative Service, TAS was conceived by JRD Tata, the late chairman of the Tata group, in the 1950s. TAS managers are taken through a development plan that lasts five years. The first year consists of four cross-functional, cross-business and cross-location assignments. These include three business stints of 15 weeks duration in sales and marketing, manufacturing and operations, and corporate strategy, finance and human resources and a seven-week rural assignment. The next 4 years are then spent in 1 or 2 different TATA Group companies. In my first year, I worked with group companies like Tata Teleservices, Tata Capital and Tata Consumer Products before joining Tata Power.
In my role as Head - Performance Analysis, I led a team of 4 to work closely with Senior Management to evaluate performance of investments across the Tata Power Group of Companies. I was also responsible for preparing the Annual Business Plan for Tata Power
Cennergi (Pty.) Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Power, India and Exxaro Resources, South Africa, to develop, own and maintain power generation projects in select African countries. While being deputed at Cennergi, I was primarily responsible for commercial evaluation of growth opportunities, financial modeling and Treasury. I successfully led the project finance modeling & commercial team for achieving financial closure on two large wind power projects totaling 230 MW. I also developed & maintained financial models, ran scenarios, conceptualized & negotiated various commercial agreements like Management Services Agreement, Development Premium Agreement etc. Post that, I led the Mergers & Acquisition team which was responsible for sourcing, commercial evaluation and structuring of potential business opportunities - liaised closely with bankers and industry participants and managed Treasury at Cennergi
