My research interests include Data Analysis and Mining, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Image Analysis & Understanding, Image/Signal Processing, Image Visualization, and Computer Graphics. I have published 20+ papers in peer-reviewed International Journals/conferences including top-ranked computer vision and machine learning journals and conferences e.g., IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI) and IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR). I have 8 years R&D experience leading and conducting cutting edge research on a wide range of technologies: (1) big data analysis (GPS, time-series in vehicle data, geo-spatial data, unstructured 3D mesh data, images, etc.) ); (2) affective computing -- human emotion recognition utilizing multiple complementary cues (facial expression, body posture, voice intonation, speech, etc.) from multi-modality data (video/audio, physiological, Kinect data); (3) multi-modal data analysis for human cognitive readiness assessment; (4) visual knowledge discovery for visual surveillance and security applications; (5) vision-based robotic applications; (6) hybrid discourse analysis for hierarchical social group identification and intent prediction; (7) graphic-physics based modeling and simulation (M&S) technologies for 3D simulation of urban warfare; (8) terrain service analysis for live-virtual-constructive simulation; (9) biometrics; etc. In UtopiaCompression Corp., I have successfully won a number of highly competitive SBIR awards (~1.25 million US$) from several U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Agencies including U.S. DARPA, OSD, Air Force, and ARMY.
