Wolfgang Kellenter has been a partner in Hengeler Mueller’s Düsseldorf office. He was head of Hengeler Mueller’s patent litigation group and co-head of Hengeler Mueller’s IP practice group. At May 1, 2025, Wolfgang Kellenter retired from the active partnership at Hengeler Mueller, but he is still a partner of the firm. Wolfgang Kellenter has graduated from Bayreuth Law School in 1987, holds a doctoral degree (Dr. jur.) from Bayreuth University and obtained a LL.M. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was admitted to the German bar in 1990 and as solicitor in England and Wales in 1992. Wolfgang joined Hengeler Mueller in 1995 and became a partner in 1997. He is also a representative at the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Wolfgang Kellenter is specialised in intellectual property, especially patent litigation. He has acted as patent advocate in multiple patent litigations in Germany including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecoms, mechanics and other areas. Most of the cases which he was responsible for, involved an international element, such as parallel patent litigation in other countries. Wolfgang was also a lecturer for intellectual property law at the Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf and the Düsseldorf Law School for many years. He has given numerous speeches on German and European patent law, including cross-border patent litigation strategies and software and business method patents. He is also author of the German chapters of the books “Patent Litigation: Jurisdictional Comparisons”, "Trademark Litigation:Jurisdictional Comparisons", an article on the “FRAND-defence in patent litigation” , the "Handbook on Manager Liability" and further publications.
