About

I have always been an urbanite at heart. Growing up, cities enraptured me with their ebbs and flows. Operating like clockwork, yet spontaneous, unpredictable, and chaotic, cities are highly complex. This fuelled my great interest for the urban and motivated me to study Civil Engineering and Urban Studies. Eventually, upon graduation, I helped set up NUS Cities, a multidisciplinary centre on cities education, research and advisory services. I also had the great pleasure of working with seasoned academics and practitioners from different fields on various projects, and organised symposiums, workshops, and lectures. My research interests now are at the intersection of sustainable and intelligent mobility, planning and policy. I wish to unravel how and why people travel, and how that is shaped by and also shapes our environment and infrastructure. It is a tapestry waiting to be fleshed out. Through the use of emerging technology and AI, I hope to better understand our shared mobility and cycling infrastructure and environment, and unpack cycling experience and behaviour. This will not only improve our infrastructure assets, but also spur and encourage more people to use them. I am also working on other studies and projects relating to cycling perception and urban design and planning. Ultimately, I wish to develop an evidence-based, science-backed approach to transform cities to be more sustainable, car-lite and liveable. Please feel free to contact me for coffee and collab!
