As Head of Corporate Projects, I led the company’s M&A activities by defining strategic target areas, conducting market screening, identifying prospective target companies, and overseeing the acquisition process, from negotiations to post-acquisition integration. I further spearheaded Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, including supporting a 2.0 billion EUR tendering process and leading the financial close of a 1.2 billion EUR senior debt deal. I personally held leadership roles in the PPP project companies and was responsible for selling the company's shareholdings in some of these project companies. In the area of Corporate Development, I identified key trends in the construction industry and assessed their relevance for the company. This also included the development of innovative contract models, such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Finally, I played a critical role in securing Project Financing for the company’s real estate developments by negotiating, structuring and closing loan agreements and financing arrangements with lenders and banking consortia. Throughout my tenure, I worked cross-functionally with various departments, contributing to the implementation of the strategic goals. My role required technical knowledge, market insight, strong financial acumen, negotiation skills, and leadership in managing large-scale projects.
As Group Portfolio Performance Director, I played a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the performance of the company's investment or business portfolio with a value of 1.6bn GBP (1.9bn EUR). I ensured effective management of the projects and closely monitored project performance through robust project reviews to ensure financial health, adherence to project deliverables and strategic alignment. By proactively addressing project risks and issues, I initiated to mitigate factors that could impact portfolio value while also driving value enhancement initiatives. I oversaw the quarterly portfolio valuation process and provided detailed reports to both the Executive and Audit Committees. I kept a close watch on market discount rates to ensure accurate valuations and assessments. A further key responsibility was preparing vendor equity cases for divestment, optimizing returns through well-managed business-cases and well-structured exits. Finally, I also reviewed and analyzed Investment Committee wash-up papers, to ensure the completeness and coherence of information and to support the strategic alignment of investment decisions.
