• Supports the Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration (ISER) Division within the Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability • Manages a team of six analysts that conducts energy market analysis and develops technical insight during energy disruptions for an audience that includes the general public, the Secretary of Energy’s Office, the National Security Council, and the White House • Executes fast-paced market data gathering from gas and electric utilities under tight deadlines in order to produce official Department of Energy Situation Reports • Analyzes U.S. Energy Information Administration datasets to identify risks and vulnerabilities of critical energy infrastructure • Communicates across the U.S. Government and private industry to promote the coordinated sharing of classified threat information pertaining to the nation’s energy supply • Provides policy advice and expertise to ISER leadership on ways to identify and mitigate risks to the electricity, oil, and natural gas subsectors • Coordinates with state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and private entities to promote resiliency and energy security through risk-based planning under DOE’s Energy Assurance Program • Develops resources for state and local governments, as well as utilities, to aid in preparedness and restoration, such as the Energy Waiver Library for regulatory relief, table top exercises, and webinars • Prioritizes the processing of security clearance applications for critical infrastructure private sector owners, operators, and industry representatives, specifically those in positions responsible for the protection, security, and resilience of their assets
• Evaluated 20 State Energy Assurance Plans to ensure they met federal standards for energy reliability and fuel planning • Analyzed gaps on energy infrastructure spending and policies that directly resulted in a $150,000 funding increase for DOE’s Energy Assurance Program • Conducted outreach to 47 states, the District of Columbia, 2 U.S. territories, and 47 localities to establish and maintain working relationships vital to energy assurance and resilience planning • Transcribed multiple Congressional hearings to generate data on other Federal infrastructure spending programs
