Passion should take precedence over a paycheck. Well at least that’s how I see it and how I’ve tried to focus my career. After 10 years in Catalog, I have transitioned to the role of Senior Product Manager for RCA Records /Epic Records within Sony Music Germany overseeing international Hip-Hop | R&B | Pop | African Music roster. In this role, I coordinate product releases (singles & albums – both physical and digital), and high-level marketing campaigns with an expertise on Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and Afrobeats / Amapiano repertoire. I oversee a truly superstar roster for the German market, including: A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, TYLA, Future, JADE (of Little Mix), Victoria Monét, Wizkid, Tems, Chris Brown, Majid Jordan, Miguel, Bryson Tiller, Kaytranada, Flo Milli, Khalid, Teezo Touchdown, Tyler ICU, Mellow & Sleazy, Felo Le Tee, and many more. Previously I worked as a Product Manager on Sony's Catalog team for 10 years (7 years in New York and 3 in Berlin). In this role I coordinated catalog product releases (singles & albums – both physical and digital), and high-level marketing campaigns with an expertise on US Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop repertoire including: Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Wu-Tang Clan, OutKast, Mobb Deep, Nas, and so much more. I have been with Sony Music for 10 years beginning in New York City. Throughout my time at Sony, I was responsible for the creation of This Is Certified, Sony Music’s Global platform for the celebration of classic Hip-Hop and R&B catalog, facilitated high-level marketing events such as the reunion of A Tribe Called Quest for the 25th Anniversary of 'People's Instinctive Travels...", pop-up events for 25 Years of Nas' "Illmatic" and well as 40 Years of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" plus partnerships with Outkast x BSTN (Germany), Destiny’s Child & Essence Magazine and much more. As Associate Director, Marketing at Legacy Recordings | Sony Music Entertainment, I now oversee Hip-Hop and R&B Catalog Strategy (both classic and contemporary) via Certified Classics, Sony Music's division for the celebration of Sony Music's Hip-Hop and R&B catalog. Established in 2016 and with artists like The Fugees, Maxwell, Nas, A Tribe Quest, Xscape, Aaliyah and many more, Certified aims to pay homage to the legendary and contemporary innovators of Hip-Hop and R&B by preserving, curating and reissuing repertoire from the 1980s through the early 2010s.
Product managed releases by Jon Batiste & Stay Human, Incrediblé Me, The Wiggles, and Super Why! in addition to being the liaison between the record label at large and artist management. In this role I worked with all internal departments to develop & implement multi-tiered marketing campaigns. Responsibilities include overseeing market strategies and marketing related materials including budgets, album artwork, sales information and statistics, advertising buys, radio spots, print media, online tools, music videos, viral content & TV campaigns and coordination for the entire Marketing and Radio Promotions departments
Established relationships with college media, edited content for artists on MySpace and Facebook, inputed Sound Scan venue sheets, filled online product orders, and assisted with product inventory.
Proofed sales reports and maintained the numbers for SoundScan Reports, reviewed international royalty statements and performed royalty calculations, researched statistics from blog sites, ordered physical product, facilitated ticket buys with promoters, and managed mailings of various products to music industry personnel.
