Develop and deploy key core strategies to enhance the capability of the global Wire and Terminals & Connectors Engineering organizations for adherence to disciplined design processes and design cost objectives. Manage multi million USD budget to insure financial objectives of the organization are met. Drive Design for Manufacturing, Design for Cost and Operating Income Enhancement activities to achieve ~$60 M USD in operating income improvement annually. Direct all operational aspects of 900+ engineers located in 16 countries in the design, development and execution of electrical/electronic distribution systems. Establish quantitative metrics to insure engineering designs are delivered on time and accurate to downstream manufacturing operations.
Electrical & Electronics Product Release Engineering Manager - Manage engineers executing the design and development of electrical distribution systems and wiring. -Responsibilities range from advance design and packaging activities for future models to assembly plant support for current production models. -Group technical expert in production design and release efforts while managing budgetary requirements and developing group timing milestones. Vehicle Development Engineering -Lead Engineers and UAW Designers responsible for full vehicle integration through use of computer aided engineering tools. Heavy emphasis on total vehicle system integration (BIW, Chassis, etc.), design for manufacturability and vehicle dynamics. Product Design Office Engineering -Supervised advanced engineering efforts in a Design Office Production Studio. Engineering staff responsibilities included working with a cross-functional team to establish program vision, hard points and feasibility of design. -Led ground up Concept Vehicle designs with responsibility for integration of BIW, Chassis, Powertrain, Interior and Electrical systems to deliver fully functional and drivable concept vehicles. Test & Development Engineering -Developed component specifications and test plans to measurably quantify component reliability. -Planned and coordinated electromagnetic compatibility testing on whole vehicle and electronic/electrical components. -Analysis of printed circuit board designs for electromagnetic susceptibility.
