In 2010, acquired licensee relationship with BioSoil Enhancers, Inc. of Hattiesburg, MS, owners of the worldwide marketing and production rights to SumaGrow, a microbial soil enhancer developed and patented by Michigan State University. SumaGrow has been shown to improve crop yields from 25% to 400% in over 200 crops, while simultaneously substantially reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and water. Higher yields means a larger crop from the same acreage. Crops from healthy soil resist diseases and insects, and healthy crops from healthy soil have significantly higher nutritional value as measured by Brix levels, a measure of nutritional value in all crops. Fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides all emit noxious gases into the air, increasingly dangering the Earth’s protective ozone layer. Reducing the usage of these products has a substantial eco-benefit both to the soil and to the atmosphere. Increased yields means more revenue from the same acreage. Also, by reducing fertilizer inputs, operating costs are lower resulting in a higher net profit. The combination of increased yields and lower input costs means substantially higher profit from the same acreage.
