• Assist with AAJ’s federal rules advocacy by planning, drafting, and reviewing public comments. • Support AAJ’s legislative and policy advocacy, including on Capitol Hill. • Supervise AAJ staff attorney and direct the development of legal resources for AAJ members. • Lead quarterly meetings of department oversight committee focused on products, budget, and branding. • Develop and execute complimentary programming for AAJ members.
• Develop and publish practice materials used by plaintiffs' attorneys around the country on a variety of issues, including e-Discovery, motor vehicle insurance claims, remote depositions, crash reconstruction, and more.
• Managed the civil, special civil part, and landlord-tenant motion calendars for trial court judge. • Reviewed pleadings and summarized arguments for judge’s review. • Drafted judicial orders addressing employment law, family law, automobile negligence, personal injury, and medical malpractice. • Point person for Law Clerk-led small claims mediation program.
• Assisted attorneys representing indigent clients in preparing defenses for criminal trials. • Drafted motions and memoranda on a variety of legal issues, including suppression of evidence, compassionate release, severance, and dismissal. • Met with clients at the D.C. Jail and worked with them to develop defense strategies. • Participated in trial practice group training with senior attorneys to develop trial advocacy skills.
• Assisted case teams at various stages of post-conviction litigation, interviewed clients and witnesses regarding case details, conducted legal research, and drafted motions in support of post-conviction claims.
• Provided assistance to deal teams through all stages of corporate transactions.
