Hi, I am Louis-François (or just Louis, loo·ee, French pronunciation), from Montreal, Canada, also known as "What's AI". I recently dropped out of a PhD to focus on AI education with my company Towards AI. My goal with Towards AI is to prepare students for the industry, where university failed me. I decided to drop out of the Ph.D. after years of research and study in this field because my two years in an early startup building a dev and AI team showed me how disconnected traditional education teaching is compared to what is being done by companies. I want to ensure that future engineers and researchers have the skill set to bring value to the world. He co-authored Building LLMs for Production, a hands-on guide to prompting, fine-tuning, retrieval augmented generation, and evaluation. Today, he partners with founders and organizations on AI strategy, training design, and production workflows that raise accuracy, reduce risk, and make generative AI useful for paying customers, and he speaks at events such as Uphill Conf. " For me, a typical day consists of moving a lot, working on different projects, learning, eating, and sleeping at least 8 hours. I am particularly interested in AI, neurosciences, philosophy, nutrition, my cat, and sports in general. If I had one book to recommend reading, it is Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker, Ph.D. Just give it a go. It will change your view on sleep forever. One advice? Do the best you can and don't stress too much about it, you can't do more anyways!
