Hello, I am currently a Year 4 Chemical Engineering in UTAR, passionate about creating meaningful connections between students and the engineering industry. Throughout my university life, I’ve actively taken on leadership roles and organized impactful events that bridge academic learning with real-world exposure. As Chairperson of the IChemE Student Chapter, I led large-scale events like Insight 2024 and Insight 2025, overseeing over 40 committee members and collaborating with industry professionals to deliver career days, technical forums, plant design competitions, and networking sessions. Beyond IChemE, I’ve also contributed significantly to Engineering Science Fiesta 2025, where I organized keynote speeches, a Engineering based forum, and a symposium on biomass conversion technologies. I also served as the emcee for the Networking Event, which addressed Gen Z’s career concerns and helped students connect with industry speakers. These experiences have shaped my skills in leadership, event management, stakeholder engagement, and communication. I’m particularly interested in sustainability, process design, and the role of engineering in solving modern global challenges. I’m always eager to connect, learn, and contribute—whether through internships, collaborative projects, or professional communities in the chemical engineering and sustainability space.
- Conducted chemical testing and analysis of raw materials and products, ensuring compliance with quality standards. - Assisted in a project to verify the effectiveness of the default setting in the electrodes conductivity meter, evaluating alternative values for improved measurement accuracy. - Collected and analyzed data to support calibration curve development for chemicals used in the dipping line. - Assisted in data collection, validation, and reporting, contributing to process improvements and QA documentation. - Gained hands-on experience with lab instruments, titration techniques, and QA protocols in a manufacturing environment. - Applied Chemical Engineering fundamentals to real-world lab scenarios, enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Developed communication and teamwork skills by collaborating with supervisors, lab colleagues. - Learned the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and reliability in quality assurance processes. - Received a conditional offer from Hartalega, reflecting successful performance and adaptability during the internship.
As the Head of Talks & Workshop for Engineering Science Fiesta: The Return 2025, I led a dedicated team in organizing impactful sessions that connected students with industry professionals and academic leaders. The event served as a platform to explore career development, sustainable engineering practices, and innovation within the engineering field. Key contributions: Organised four major sessions featuring prominent speakers and panelists: • Keynote Speech 1: “From Nerves to Confidence – Communicating in Interviews” by Iman Rozhan • Keynote Speech 2: “Sustainable Energy Transitions – The Role of Engineers in Achieving Net-Zero Goals” by Raja Shazrin Shah Raja Ehsan Shah • Forum: “Thriving as an Engineer in Malaysia’s Landscape” with Loi Yew Hua, Ir. Ts. Zuhair Hasan, and Ir. Ts. Goh Wei Loon • Symposium: “Contemporary Biomass Conversion Technologies for Value-Added Bioproducts” by Steven Lim Served as emcee for the Networking Session on Day 3, fostering meaningful conversations between professionals and students Led a STEM Workshop at SMKBBSL, which included hands-on sessions on electronics, electrolysis, structure building, and a talk by Ir. Ts. Wong Chee Fui on engineering pathways
As Chairperson of the IChemE Student Chapter at UTAR, I led a committee board of 13 members in organizing a variety of student-focused activities to promote professional growth and industry exposure among chemical engineering students. My responsibilities included delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring smooth execution of events and initiatives. I worked closely with my team to maintain effective communication, foster collaboration, and uphold the standards of our chapter. Key initiatives: • Organized and oversaw site visits, industry talks, and our annual Members’ Night, providing valuable learning and networking opportunities for members. • Ensured clear task delegation and accountability among committee members, contributing to a well-coordinated and motivated team. • Supported the overall development of members by promoting engagement in extracurricular and professional development activities. This role strengthened my leadership, organizational, and communication skills while allowing me to contribute to the student engineering community in a meaningful way.
• Led the planning and execution of Insight 2024, a flagship 2-day event themed "Green Horizon", focused on sustainability and career development in chemical engineering. • Managed a team of 46 committee members across 8 departments, ensuring clear coordination, task delegation, and timely progress. • Collaborated with IChemE NECG Malaysia to co-organize a Career Day, featuring: – Industry forums and panel discussions – Technical workshops – Inter-university plant design competition – Company exhibitions and networking sessions • Enhanced industry exposure for participants by facilitating engagement with professionals and companies from various sectors. • Strengthened my leadership, team management, and event coordination skills through end-to-end oversight of a high-impact student initiative. This experience sharpened my leadership, project management, and communication skills, while allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the professional growth of fellow engineering students.
As a committee member of the IChemE Student Chapter (2023–2024), I contributed to the growth and success of the club through various roles and responsibilities. I spearheaded the recruitment drive, ensuring a seamless onboarding process for new members and managing their records with UTAR. I also took charge of organizing the duty roster for the recruitment drive. I played an integral role in coordinating site visits and talks, where I served as the organizing secretary of the activities, preparing pre-event and post-event documentation. Additionally, I helped organize the Members' Night and emceed the Member's Night, creating opportunities for members to connect and engage. My experience has honed my leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills, all of which I aim to bring to future opportunities in the field of chemical engineering.
