Weijin started his professional career as a corporate & commercial lawyer. He trained at one of Singapore's largest law firms and then went on to begin his legal career at a boutique practice. Wanting to explore the possibility of providing a holistic corporate solution to his SME clients, Weijin then went on to found The Alternative Avenue - a business and legal-risk management consultancy for SMEs, where him and his team were able to support their clients by providing virtual legal counsel services and business consulting (corporate services, business development strategies, market penetration, government assistance, et cetera) which met the clients' needs and expansion goals. Weijin was then appointed to play different roles in various organisations which included being the Head of Partnerships for a fintech company and Contract Manager at the E-Payment Service arm of Singapore's largest telco. Weijin then co-founded Project Urban Pte Ltd, a player in the coliving industry, providing a quick, efficient and cost-effective solution to the temporary lodging needs of individuals and couples. With Weijin at the helm, the start-up's business grew by 10X in the course of its first year of incorporation. Weijin also sits on the Board of a few SMEs in the F&B industry where he assists by providing advice and insights on issues. Wishing to contribute to his clients in a more meaningful way, Weijin rejoined the legal fraternity in 2022, becoming a specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law - Providing sound advice to the ultra high-net worth clients pertaining to the structuring of their assets, to ensure clarity and certainty towards the management and division of such assets at the appropriate time.
Senior Associate at Sim Mong Teck & Partners (a boutique, private client practice) and a specialist with the Estate Planning Department, advising on Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law. Providing clients (mainly UHNW individuals, both local and foreign) with advice on the structure and distribution of assets as part of their estate plan. Drafting numerous wills which, among others, include unique testamentary trusts, special care arrangements for beneficiaries and meticulous instructions on methods of distribution of assets to ensure that the clients' wishes and intent are met. Provide advise and reviews on trust arrangements and agreements which include reviewing trust deeds, settlement agreements, letters of wishes, etc. Assisting with the preparation of and drafting the Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients. Managing and overseeing the clients' applications for Letters of Administration and Grants of Probate.
Co-founded Project Urban Pte Ltd. Under the brand "The Crib", the company specializes in providing short-term to mid-term leases to individuals/ couples in need of lodging. As part of the coliving industry, the company focuses on leveraging on the advantage of shared resources in order to provide a cost effective and speedy solution for individuals with lodging needs.
Created a contract tracking system to track various milestones in the partnership agreements with Singtel DASH such that the Business Team is able to execute their respective strategies accordingly with the Singtel DASH's partners. Vetted and amended all terms & conditions for all marketing campaigns launched by the Marketing Team. Vetted and amended service agreements between the department's contractors and Singtel DASH. Drafted letters of intent and other simple partnership agreements for the Singtel DASH and its potential partners. Worked closely with the Singtel Compliance Team on streamlining a documentation collection process (for KYC purposes) to make it speedier and more efficient whilst being in compliance with the Payment Services Act. Gave general legal advice and guidance to marketing and business development team.

Founder to The Alternative Avenue, originally with the focus of empowering its clients by providing transferable knowledge through training and workshops on contractual and compliance risk management. The Company then shifted its focus towards seconding its consultants to its clients (mainly SMEs), effectively providing clients' with in-house legal counsels who are also capable of assisting companies from various other angles such as fund raising and business development. Role and Function in Alternative Avenue: Virtual Counsel to over 60 SME Clients of Alternative Avenue. Scope included providing legal risk management guidance, preparing and drafting legal documentation, and providing consultation on strategy, in the capacity as a member of the SME Client. Master Trainer and Chief Consultant for Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) matters. Created training courses and consultation programs to ensure trainees and clients reached a high level of compliance with the PDPA. Trained over 300 SMEs on compliance with the PDPA. In charge of creating Go-to-Market strategies, client-relationship management, partnership management, accounts management and marketing for the Alternative Avenue.
