The Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor for the UCSI Beijing Office serves as the strategic lead for advancing UCSI University’s institutional presence, partnerships, and academic collaborations in China. The role is responsible for establishing and operationalizing the Beijing Office as a formal representative platform that aligns academic development, transnational education, and institutional diplomacy with the long-term internationalisation strategy of UCSI. The office functions as a coordination hub for China–Malaysia higher education collaboration. This includes cultivating government relations, strengthening university–university partnerships, facilitating joint programmes, supporting student mobility pipelines, and exploring the development of UCSI Learning and Innovation Centres in key Chinese provinces. The position integrates academic governance, regulatory alignment, and business model development to ensure that all initiatives comply with Malaysian and Chinese higher education frameworks. In addition, the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor acts as an institutional ambassador. The role represents UCSI in engagements with ministries, universities, industry partners, and cultural organizations, while reinforcing the reputation of UCSI in areas such as science diplomacy, sustainability, digital innovation, and creative industries. This external representation function requires strategic positioning, policy literacy, and high-level negotiation capacity. Operationally, the role oversees planning, phased implementation, KPI tracking, financial feasibility assessment, and reporting to university leadership. It also ensures alignment between Beijing Office initiatives and UCSI’s broader international, academic, and commercial objectives. In summary, the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor, UCSI Beijing Office, is responsible for translating strategic intent into executable structures that institutionalize UCSI’s long-term engagement in China.
