Antwerp, Flemish Region, Belgium
Starting from November 2022, I help coordinate and supervise the Continuing Education Customs & Excise Programme (Permanente Vorming Douane & Accijnzen) and its related Master's programme. The Continuing Education Customs and Excise is a modular, academically oriented specialisation programme organised by the University of Antwerp in collaboration with Belgium’s FPS Finance and the private sector. This unique programme has been developed around the EU Customs Competency Framework and has in this regard been officially recognized by the European Commission as a high-quality customs-specific study programme.
Responsible for shaping and leading the global trade compliance and customs strategy within a multinational, market-leading industrial technology company. Heraeus Electro-Nite is a global leader in measurement and control solutions for molten metals. With approximately 4,000 employees across more than 25 locations worldwide, it supports its customers with advanced sensor technologies and data-driven process optimization. In my strategic role, I develop and implement global policies and programs to ensure compliance with customs and trade rules across all international operations.
Over the past years - thanks to my mentor and colleague Jurgen Gevers - I have developed a passion for and expertise in customs and excise law. In October 2021 Jurgen and I decided to take our accumulated experience to the next level and start our own niche law firm focusing exclusively on customs, excise and their related areas of law.
Since 2021, I have been teaching the subject "Customs & Excise" within the "Postgraduate Tax & Accountancy Management" at the Karel de Grote Hogeschool. As from 2023, I also teach the subject "Global Customs Procedures" within the "Global Supply Chain Management" program.
