About

I help organisations make inclusion governable, accountable and real. Not as a slogan. Not as visibility alone. As culture, staff voice, leadership behaviour and decisions that can hold under pressure. My work sits across EDIB strategy, workforce equality and organisational change, with a particular focus on the gap between what organisations say they believe and what their systems actually do. That thread runs through my career: international consultancy, NHS leadership, national equality work, policing governance, charity boards, commercial leadership and psychosocial practice. The practical outcome is usually clearer accountability, stronger staff voice, more confident leadership decision-making and equality work that can withstand scrutiny. I began working in diversity, equity and inclusion before many organisations in Europe had a settled language for it. Much of my early work involved helping senior leaders move from discomfort or good intent into clearer structures, better conversations and credible organisational responsibility. That experience still shapes how I work now. Inclusion is not only a statement of intent. It is a test of leadership behaviour, decision-making, accountability and whether people are safe enough to tell the truth. Today, my work includes Trust-wide EDIB leadership at Dorset County Hospital, national equality work through the NHS Staff Council, external governance challenge through Police Now, voluntary-sector trustee and advisory roles, and the development of an LGBTQIA+ employer certification model through Queer Score. I work best where inclusion is expected to change decisions, behaviours and systems, not simply decorate them. My focus is governance and assurance, culture and belonging, staff voice, leadership behaviour, workforce equality, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, employer standards and safer, more honest organisations.

Experience

  • Specialist Adviser, People Committee at Weldmar Hospicecare
    Jan 2026 - Present · 6 mos

As Specialist Adviser to the People Committee, I bring ED&I judgement, governance perspective and constructive external challenge to people policy, organisational development and workforce culture within a Dorset hospice charity. The role sits close to questions of dignity, compassion and organisational responsibility. My focus is on helping strengthen inclusive practice, sound decision-making and the connection between staff experience and the quality of care people receive at some of the most vulnerable points in life.

  • Board Committee Member, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at Police Now
    Aug 2025 - Present · 11 mos

I serve on the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Board Committee of Police Now, a national not-for-profit working to strengthen leadership, diversity and public trust in policing. The Committee provides scrutiny and strategic input across Police Now’s workforce, programmes, alumni, governance and wider influence within policing. My contribution brings external EDIB judgement, organisational change experience and constructive challenge to a sector where representation, legitimacy and community confidence are central to public trust. My focus is on helping turn EDI commitment into credible practice: better challenge, better use of evidence, stronger accountability and a clear understanding that trust depends on who is recruited, how people are developed and whether communities can recognise themselves in the systems that serve them.

  • Trustee – Space Youth Project at Space Youth Project
    Mar 2024 - Present · 2 yrs 4 mos

Space Youth Project is a regional charity supporting LGBTQ+ young people and their families across Dorset and the surrounding area. As a Trustee, I contribute to governance, safeguarding, organisational sustainability and strategic direction. My focus is on helping protect and strengthen a service built around safety, belonging and early intervention, while supporting the charity to remain resilient, accountable and connected to the realities facing LGBTQ+ young people and their families.

  • Chair, Gender Subgroup; Member, EDI Group at NHS Employers
    Jan 2024 - Present · 2 yrs 6 mos

I contribute to national NHS equality work through the NHS Staff Council’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group, a partnership-based forum bringing together employer and trade union perspectives. As Chair of the Gender Subgroup, I support work on gender-related priorities while contributing to wider discussions where employment practice, national standards, staff experience and equality duties need to be held together carefully. The work requires technical judgement, sensitivity and the ability to think beyond individual organisational interests towards what is workable and credible across the NHS.
