Demonstrates deep expertise in the development of enabling technologies for advanced propulsion systems — spanning electric propulsion (Hall Effect Thrusters), hybrid and liquid rocket engines, and dedicated ground test facilities — with extensive experience in requirements definition, system integration, testing, and qualification of innovative propulsion concepts. Experienced in managing R&D contracts and collaborating with international space agencies, research institutions, and industry partners to advance sovereign space capabilities. Serves as Independent Expert Evaluator for the European Commission under the Horizon Europe framework programme, and is a member of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Space Propulsion Technical Committee. Recently included in the UAE Expert Research Map.
Responsible for the technical development and commissioning of ground test infrastructure for space electric propulsion (EP) within the Propulsion and Space Research Center (PSRC), encompassing vacuum facility design, integration, and qualification of test capabilities for Hall Effect Thrusters and in-space propulsion systems. Electric Propulsion & Vacuum Test Infrastructure Leading the design and implementation of vacuum chamber facilities for space electric propulsion testing, supporting characterisation and qualification of EP systems — including Hall Effect Thrusters (HET) — for small satellite applications and future in-space propulsion missions. Activities encompass facility requirements definition, system integration, and qualification planning in accordance with space industry standards. Previous scope (Feb.24 - Feb-26): Programme Manager for TII's chemical propulsion R&D initiatives, with full responsibility for budget control, deliverable tracking, and contract management of externally awarded R&D agreements. ° UAE's first hybrid sounding rocket — successfully launched 13 February 2026 (N₂O/HDPE self-pressurising motor, full end-to-end UAE sovereign development). °UAE's first liquid rocket engine — 250 N bipropellant thruster, 50+ hot-fire tests; initial campaign at Airborne Engineering (UK)
Independent external expert appointed by the European Commission for the technical and scientific evaluation of proposals submitted under Horizon Europe (and previously H2020) framework programmes. Evaluation activities cover R&D proposals in the domains of space systems, space propulsion, and advanced aerospace technologies, with assessment conducted against EC eligibility, excellence, impact, and implementation criteria.
*Expertly directed cross-functional teams in developing and delivering complex, multidisciplinary space propulsion and space exploration projects, with a strong emphasis on technological advancement: • Successfully managed the "Hyprob" project, focusing on developing essential technologies and infrastructures for liquid propulsion space engines. Key accomplishments include establishing a dedicated R&D ground test facility and leading the development and testing of LOX-LCH4 subscale engines. Effectively managed the project within the allocated budget of 42M€, ensuring its success. • Managed the development of the Medium-Scale Vacuum Chamber (MSVC) for testing space electric propulsion systems. Led the design and implementation of low-power Hall Effect Thrusters (HET) for small- and mini-satellites, ensuring project completion within budget. Currently overseeing the development of the Large-Scale Vacuum Chamber (LSVC) to enhance capabilities in electric propulsion. • Led the inception and implementation of the "Lunar and Martian Exploration Facilities" project, developing research and testing capabilities for future planetary exploration missions. Managed execution and a budget of 35M€, benefiting National Industry, Universities, and Research Centers. Coordinated and actively participated to the definition of strategic initiatives in Robotic Exploration, Orbital Platforms, Electric Propulsion, and Ground Test Infrastructures.
