What three decades in this field have taught me is that mobility challenges are almost never technical problems. They are trust problems. At SWARCO, I work with public authorities and operators on what comes next in mobility, both in terms of the products we build and how our portfolio connects to the problems they actually have. The position I try to hold is consistent: not a vendor pitching, but a partner who absorbs complexity rather than adding to it. I came up through traffic engineering and ITS consulting before moving into strategy, which means I've been in the control room as well as the boardroom. Authorities are working through real challenges in safety, sustainability, traffic flow, last-mile connectivity, and the operating reality of running infrastructure day to day. My job is to help them sort through that across traffic management, infrastructure, tunnels, and the smart mobility layer that ties it together. The best work, in my experience, starts from listening rather than pitching. I keep learning because the moment you stop being curious, you start becoming irrelevant. That has taken me through programms at MIT, EPFL, and IMD, and currently a Strategy masterclass at the University of Amsterdam. Always open to a conversation about the future of mobility, public-private collaboration, or anything that moves.
